AUGUSTA – Gov. John Baldacci has directed that the United States and the state of Maine flags be flown at half-staff from sunrise to sunset Monday, June 5, to honor and remember the late Edward C. Dahlgren.
Dahlgren, of Blaine, was awarded the Medal of Honor by President Truman in 1945 and was the only surviving year-round resident of Maine with that honor.
He led an attack in World War II that saved an Army platoon. Dahlgren’s funeral will be held on Monday in Presque Isle.
