HERMON – Jaime Beers scored the winning run in the bottom of the seventh inning on a Kate Campbell single to lead the sixth-ranked Hermon Hawks to a 3-2 Class B preliminary softball victory over No. 11 Mount View of Thorndike Tuesday.

Sophomore righthander Ashley Kelley allowed two runs on three hits and three walks while striking out 14 for the Hawks.

Mycah Cyr and Campbell each singled twice for Hermon and Cassie White hit a double.

Kristen Masessa hit an RBI single for the Mustangs as Miranda Grotton and Cheryl Stevens singled.

Katye Mayo hit a two-run home run and a single for Lawrence and Kiera Walsh singled and scored a run.

Eastman struck out 12 and walked two while allowing two hits over five innings. Herring struck out three and walked three in two innings of hitless relief.

Graham and Sarah Harbison had two singles each for the winners, who capitalized on 11 walks and three errors.
