Medomak rallies for win Panthers score 3 runs in seventh, top Presque Isle

PRESQUE ISLE – Zach Durkee hit an RBI single and Andy Ferrier recorded a fielder’s choice RBI and scored on an error, all in the seventh inning, as No. 5 Medomak Valley earned a 4-1 Class B baseball quarterfinal victory over No. 4 Presque Isle Thursday.

Jamie Merrifield and Alex Goldrup each singled for the Panthers of Waldoboro.

Tyler Lamoreau notched an RBI single for the No. 4 Wildcats and Matt McGlinn singled.

At Houlton, Hunter Caron and Corey Lewis combined for the two-hitter and struck out five as No. 2 Houlton blanked No. 7 Washington Academy.

Lewis singled twice and drove in two runs and Aaron Fitzpatrick had two singles and an RBI. Josh McGuire also tallied two singles for the Shiretowners.

Corey Colbeth and James Stauffer hit a single apiece for the Raiders.

At Fort Kent, Mark Sirois singled home two runs in the top of the sixth to give Madawaska the lead for good as the No. 11 Owls upset No. 3 Fort Kent.

Billy Roy belted two home runs, a solo shot in the third and a three-run jack in the fifth. Justin Morin chipped in with an RBI double and two singles for the Owls.

Kelly Thibodeau hit a two-run home run in the fourth and Bud Soucy had a single and a solo home run for the Warriors. Drew Blier had two RBIs on two singles.

At Mars Hill, Erick Martinez’s RBI single highlighted a three-run first inning that propelled the No. 5 Panthers past the 13th-ranked Wolverines.

Andrew York, who worked the first two innings for Central Aroostook, came back in the seventh with the bases loaded and nobody out and kept Schenck scoreless in the inning. York held Schenck hitless in his three innings and struck out six.

Martinez finished with two singles and two RBIs, and R.J. Richardson added a double and two RBIs.

Jordan Pelkey led the Wolverines of East Millinocket with a single, a double, and an RBI, and Chris Beaumont posted a single and two RBIs.

James Dempsey tallied an RBI single, and Gabe Hrynick and Dustin Morgan both singled for the Eagles.

At Ashland, Whitney Flint ripped a two-out, line-drive single in the bottom of the seventh inning, driving in Mindy Chasse as No. 3 Ashland outlasted No. 6 Greater Houlton Christian Academy.

Flint finished with 11 strikeouts and Ashley Nemer notched a two-run single in the bottom of the second for the Hornets.

Megan Korhonen singled twice and Lacey Farrar added an RBI triple for the Eagles.
