Police raid leads to three arrests for marijuana violations

FORT KENT – Three men were charged with a variety of marijuana counts Thursday night after a police raid that netted marijuana, money, drug paraphernalia and one firearm.

Several officers of the Fort Kent Police Department were involved in the operation. More arrests could be coming, Fort Kent police Chief Kenneth Michaud said Friday morning.

Reuben Ouellette, 26, of Fort Kent was charged with trafficking and possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. Josh Nichols, 23, of Fort Kent was charged with cultivating and possession of marijuana. Dustin Broad, 25, of Fort Kent and Presque Isle was summonsed for furnishing marijuana.

Ouellette and Nichols posted $5,000 bail. Broad did not need bail. The three men are scheduled to appear in District Court in Fort Kent on July 7.

Michaud said police seized bagged marijuana, live plants, about $1,000 in cash, marijuana pipes, weighing scales and a .22 caliber automatic firearm.

Police are alleging, according to Michaud, that the trio was involved in selling the drug to young people about town.

In a separate incident, Michaud said, police this week confiscated a counterfeit $20 bill. There was only one found. Michaud said the bill had been used at a McDonald’s Restaurant in Fort Kent.
