Reality TV is looking for love

Everyone deserves the chance to find a love like Drew Barrymore’s in “Never Been Kissed.” The kind that makes you kick up your heel during that first smooch and embrace – and keeps you kicking up that heel for years to come.

Now, four single women in San Francisco are getting the chance to find just that with a little help from ABC’s new show, “How to Get the Guy.”

Hosted by “love coaches” JD Roberto and Teresa Strasser, the show premieres at 10 p.m. Monday and is one to watch if you’re still in search of Mr. Right.

Anne, Alissa, Kris, and Michelle all have dated plenty of guys, but each has her own problem when it comes to finding The One.

Anne, described as the girl next door, doesn’t know how to send out the signal that she’s available. Michelle is a career girl who is too picky to accept the unexpected.

Alissa is a New England dreamer who has found herself on the West Coast. She graduated with a bachelor’s in Spanish and business from UNH, but now is more involved with meditating and yoga.

Kris on the other hand is a successful litigation consultant who knows how to party, but can’t seem to find the right guy to party with.

Can these ladies find true love? They seem determined, but I’ll have to keep watching to find out.

Apparently ABC isn’t the only channel looking for love. Playboy is taking dating shows to a whole new level by following two couples each week for 24 hours to see exactly how far things go, according to www.realitytvworld.com.

The details of “Foursome” are a little to racy to go into here, but I think this is one more case of reality TV going a little (maybe even a lot) too far.

The show is scheduled to premiere July 8.

As for my favorite reality show, which I admit I didn’t get to watch as much of this season as I would have liked, congrats to Sean Yazbeck for his victory Monday in season five.

On a slightly more upsetting note, Maine’s Seth Wescott wasn’t chosen as the winter Olympian to compete on next season’s “Apprentice.”

Women’s ice hockey medalist and Harvard grad Angela Ruggerio received the most votes and will appear on season six of “The Apprentice,” which now is scheduled to premiere in January 2007, rather than this fall.
