SUGAR MOUNTAIN, N.C. – Adam Craig of Corinth and Bend, Ore., placed sixth Saturday in the pro men’s cross country division of the Showdown at Sugar Mountain, the second stop of the year on the National Mountain Biking Series circuit.

Craig was timed in 2 hours, 12 minutes and 43.55 seconds, compared to 2:04:59.12 for winner Jeremy Horgan-Kobelski, a 2004 U.S. Olympic team member from Boulder, Colo.

The cross country event was one of two races Craig biked in Saturday. He placed third in the NMBS Super Downhill, an event won by New Zealander John Kirkcaldie.

Craig and the rest of the NMBS riders come to New England next weekend to race at Mount Snow, Vt. Craig will resume competing on the International Cycling Union World Cup circuit a week later at Mont-Sainte-Anne, Quebec.
