AUGUSTA – Maine Veterans’ Homes announced Monday that it hired Raymond A. Nagel, 43, of Miami to be its new chief executive officer.

Nagel has spent more than 22 years in health care administration, most recently as the executive director of MACtown Inc., a nonprofit health service organization in Miami. Nagel is a veteran of the Gulf War, for which he was awarded the Bronze Star. He is commander of a combat support hospital in the U.S. Army Reserves, serving as a lieutenant colonel.

Maine Veterans’ Homes has six facilities throughout the state, a total of 640 beds and almost 1,000 employees.
