BOYS

Big School (Classes A-B)

CASEY QUAGLIA

A junior on the Bangor High track team, Quaglia won the 1,600- and 3,200-meter runs at the Class A championship meet at Brunswick. Quaglia won the 1,600 in 4 minutes, 26.41 seconds, and despite being seeded eighth won the 3,200 in a personal-best 9:50.55.

Small School (Classes C-D)

NATE ADAMS

MATT NICKERSON

Adams and Nickerson, pitchers on the Searsport baseball team, pitched back-to-back shutouts in leading the Vikings to their first Eastern C title since 1999. Adams, a sophomore, pitched a three-hitter in a 3-0 semifinal victory over four-time defending EM champion George Stevens of Blue Hill. Nickerson, a senior, fired a four-hitter in the final as Searsport topped Houlton 4-0.

GIRLS

Big School (Classes A-B)

TERREN HALL

Hall, Bucksport’s junior pitcher, allowed two runs and eight hits while striking out 15 in Eastern Maine Class B playoff wins over Winslow, Ellsworth, and Medomak Valley. She also posted a double, three singles and three RBI during the postseason, leading the Bucks to the regional title.

Small School (Classes C-D)

MADDY GLOVER

Glover, a John Bapst of Bangor senior, won two events and finished second in a third as the Crusaders won their fifth straight Class C track and field state title. Glover won the 1,600 and 3,200 with times of 5:22.93 and 11:15.15, and earned runner-up honors in the 800 with a 2:25.80.
