Tigers tame Cony for first state crown

STANDISH – The Biddeford Tigers scored three unearned runs and those proved to be the difference as they defeated Cony of Augusta 5-2 in the Class A state softball final Saturday.

It was Biddeford’s first state softball championship.

The Tigers scored wo unearned runs off three Cony errors and one hit in the first to take a 2-1 lead and added another unearned run via an error and a hit in the third.

Justine McCurry had a triple and an infield single, and Jen Dutremble added two singles to pace Biddeford’s offense.

Jess Golden had two singles to lead the Rams of Augusta.
