Taste of Argentina

Don’t cry for me, Argentina – instead, raise up a toast at the Argentinian wine dinner at Opus in Bangor. Representatives from Wicked Wines will be on hand for the dinner, which begins at 6 p.m. Monday, June 26. Among the menu highlights are Grilled Octopus with Tomato Confit and Orange Dust, Pulled Pork “Barbequoa” Empanadas with red Chili Mole, and Mango and Papaya Meringues with Coconut-Mascarpone filling and a chilled Lemongrass- Kaffir Lime Soup. Dinner costs $65 per person. For reservations, call 945-5100.

Cool sips

It is easy being green with the new cookbook, “Green Tea: 50 Hot Drinks, Cool Quenchers and Sweet and Savory Treats.” The book features recipes such as the pictured Fresh Lime and White Grape Iced Green Tea. To make it, combine 2 cups chilled green tea, 2 cups chilled white grape juice, 6 tablespoons freshly squeezed lime juice and sugar (to taste) in a medium-size pitcher. Pour over glasses filled with ice. In each glass, float small lime wedges or add a skewer threaded with lime slices or green grapes. The book, which costs $12.95, is available at major bookstores, including Borders, or online at Amazon.com.
