PORTLAND – Portland Sea Dogs right-handed pitcher Edgar Martinez has been selected to play in the 2006 XM Satellite Radio All-Star Futures Game at PNC Park in Pittsburgh on Sunday, July 9.

Also, Sea Dogs manager Todd Claus was selected as a coach for the All-Stars for a second straight year. He will also manage the Eastern League Northern Division All-Stars.

Martinez, 24, has pitched in 24 games this season posting a 1-3 record with eight saves and a 3.82 earned run average. The Venezuelan native has 32 strikeouts and six walks in 30 2/3 innings pitched. He was originally signed as a starting catcher as an undrafted free agent by the Red Sox on July 2, 1998.

The XM Satellite Radio All-Star Futures Game will be on ESPN2 at 4 p.m. on July 9.
