Fort Kent Community High School has announced the honor parts for the Class of 2006. Graduation was held at 7 p.m. Friday, June 9 at the high school gymnasium.

Cassie Vaillancourt, daughter of Daniel and Rolande Vaillancourt of Fort Kent, was named valedictorian for the Class of 2006. She plans to attend the University of Maine at Orono to study ecology and environmental sciences.

She participated in student council, tree club, Civil Rights Team, National Honor Society, French club, travel club and Key club. She was awarded the Renesselaer Polytechnic Institute of Math and Science award, the Maine Principals’ Association award, and the University of Maine Top Scholars Achievement award.

Vaillancourt maintained highest honors through her high school years and was involved with the ski and tennis teams. As a Girl Scout, she earned her Silver Award. She volunteered at Girl Scout functions, French immersion camp, Tour de la Vallee, and Dear Time Reader at the elementary school in Fort Kent.

Alexandra Albert, daughter of Raymond and Rachel Albert of Eagle Lake, was named the salutatorian for the Class of 2006. She plans to attend the University of Maine at Orono to study molecular and cellular biology.

She was an active member of the drama club, French club, Key club, National Honor Society, prom committee and youth ministry. Her awards included National Honor Roll award, Who’s Who Among High School students, University of Maine Top Scholars Achievement award, Aristotle Scholar Academic Book award and four-year academic awards in math, science and English.

Albert was involved with soccer, softball, basketball and intramural volleyball. She volunteered at school-related functions including Tour de la Vallee, C.H.I.P.P.Y. and Toys for Tots during Christmastime and the Keller Bloom Program at Bigelow Laboratory.

Audrey Jandreau, daughter of Ronnie and Suzelle Jandreau of Fort Kent, was named honor essayist for the Class of 2006. She plants to attend Husson College to study physical therapy.

She was an active member in student council, Key Club, jazz band, peer awareness, S.A.D.D., National Honor Society, youth ministry, nutrition committee, tree club, drama club, travel club, French club and prom committee. She was treasurer for her class and secretary for peer awareness.

Jandreau participated in soccer, softball, track and field, basketball and intramural volleyball. She volunteered at school related functions including Tour de la Vallee, Dear Time for NHS, concession stand at basketball games, Eucharistic minister and the school store.
