47 years of service
BANGOR – Harold Johnson, an agent with New York Life Insurance Co. in Bangor, retired recently after 47 years with the company, Mark Deas, managing partner of the company’s general office, announced.
Laurie York, an agent with New York Life, was named as Johnson’s successor.

Grand reopening
BANGOR – Advantage Gases and Tools, 1122 Outer Hammond St., celebrated its grand reopening with a ribbon cutting ceremony on June 16. The facility has been expanded to 5,000 square feet of space.
Since 1916, as J.J. Boulter and Sons, and then as Bangor Welding Supply in the early 1980s, the company evolved to become Advantage Gases and Tools. Scholarships from restaurant foundation
PORTLAND – Members of the Maine restaurant community gathered on June 20 in Portland to honor students from around the state who are seeking careers in culinary arts and hospitality management.
The Maine Restaurant Association Education Foundation awarded $7,000 in scholarships to eight students.
Brooke Dojny, author of the recently published “Dishing Up Maine 165 Recipes that Capture Authentic Down East Flavors,” delivered the keynote address.
Among the four recipients of Russ Casey Scholarships was John Costello of Jackman, a sophomore in the culinary arts program at Eastern Maine Community College in Bangor.
Receiving the Antonio DiMillo Scholarship through the Maine Restaurant Association Education Foundation was Heather Allen of Brooklin, who plans to study hospitality management at Husson College in Bangor this fall.
Receiving the Governor’s Restaurant Scholarship through the MRAEF was Brian Kneeland of Passadumkeag, who is studying culinary arts at Eastern Maine Community College.
Contributors of recent endowments to the Russ Casey Scholarship fund include Governor’s Restaurants and the Ninety Nine Restaurant & Pubs of Maine.
Photogrammetric mapping
BANGOR – Image Tech Inc., a photogrammetric scanning firm, has announced its expansion to include full digital mapping services, including flight planning, aero triangulation, compilation QC, editing, digital ortho-photo generation and mosaic work, in addition to the established scanning and consulting services.
ITI will provide stereo compilation services in partnership with experienced compilation firms.
Announcing the expansion, said Lori Phillips, company founder and principal, is “the best possible way to celebrate the first anniversary of Image Tech. This lets our clients simplify their purchasing, a benefit they identify as having value to them.”
Phillips has a bachelor’s degree in surveying engineering from the University of Maine and has been active in the photogrammetric mapping industry for more than 15 years. In 2003 she became a Certified Photogrammetrist.
Phillips serves on the Colonial States Boards of Surveyor Registration team, which is preparing a photogrammetric licensure exam for the National Council of Examiners for Engineering and Surveying. She is a member of the American Society for Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing.
Based in Veazie, Image Tech Inc. is a member of the Management Association for Private Photogrammetric Surveyors and the Specialty Graphic Imaging Association.
