Carmel man hurt in motorcycle accident

A Carmel man was injured Wednesday and transported to Eastern Maine Medical Center by ambulance after the motorcycle he was operating struck another vehicle and skidded across several feet of pavement on Main Street.

James Doyle, 21, was driving a 2005 Kawasaki motorcycle on Main Street toward Hampden when he hit the rear bumper of a 1990 silver Mercury driven by a 17-year-old boy, Bangor police Officer Douglas Moore said.

The Mercury was pulling out of McDonald’s parking lot, and was attempting to cross all four lanes of traffic on Main Street onto Lincoln Street, when the accident occurred.

Doyle was in the lane closest to the centerline when he struck the vehicle.

The motorcycle, which had severe damage to the headlight and handlebars, was towed from the scene.

Doyle was wearing a helmet and had minor injuries to his right leg.

Bangor police arrested an Old Town man this week after an incident at the Bangor Mall where an 18-year-old woman said a stranger touched her inappropriately.

The Dexter woman told police she was at the J.C. Penney merchandise pickup area Monday afternoon when Andrew Moss-Solomon, 26, sat down beside her, asked to make out with her and proceeded to put his hand down her shirt and the back of her dress.

She told Officer Edward A. Mercier that she tried to get up but he was holding her down and grabbed her left arm when she did manage to move away from him.

Moss-Solomon left in a white pickup truck and was stopped by a state trooper on the Hogan Road, where the alleged victim identified him as the man who had touched her.

Moss-Solomon was summoned on charges of assault, unlawful sexual touching and disorderly conduct.

Correction: An item in the “From Police Files” column that ran in the June 29 Final edition should have reported that Andrew Moss-Solomon, 26, of Old Town was summoned by Bangor police on charges of assault, disorderly conduct and unlawful sexual touching. He was not arrested.
