. The National Spanish exam is sponsored by the American Association of Teachers of Spanish. On these exams, students are evaluated for their written, oral and listening comprehension skills. This year, two students of level 4 Spanish ranked in the top six in Maine. They are, in sixth place, Robert Alley; and in first place Jennie D’Amico, who placed 15th in the nation.
On the National French Exam, the students ranking in the top 10 in the state are: level 1 French, ranking seventh, Erika Cote; ranking sixth, Taylor Johnson; ranking fifth, McKenzie Houp; tied at second place, Erin Mills and Amanda Osborne; level 2 French, ranking tenth, Taylor Tremble; ranking eighth, John Williams; and ranking sixth, Kelly Cyr; level 3 French, ranking fifth, Hilary Fernald.
Among these state winners, the following students placed in the top 10 on the National level, tied for ninth in the nation at the 90th percentile for French 1: Erin Mills, Amanda Osborne; ranking 10th in the nation at the 85th percentile for French 2, Kelly Cyr.
