PRESQUE ISLE – Presque Isle High School has announced the top five seniors who were recognized at its commencement exercises on Friday, June 9.

Brendon Esquibel, son of Michael and Kim Esquibel, ranked first for the Class of 2006. He plans to attend the United States Air Force Academy in Colorado.

He was active in varsity ice hockey, soccer and the varsity club. He was awarded presidential honors and department awards in math, science and social studies. Esquibel was an active member of National Honor Society and a delegate at Dirigo Boys State.

Rachel Blackstone, daughter of Greg and Virginia Blackstone, graduated second among the Class of 2006. She plans to attend Liberty University.

She was a member of National Honor Society, the varsity soccer team, and the track and field team. She received an award from the Society of Women in Engineering and was on the All Aroostook Track team. She has done volunteer work in Guatemala and New York.

Matthew Doyen, son of Keith and Beth Doyen, graduated third among the Class of 2006. He will attend the University of Maine to study engineering.

He was active in varsity basketball, golf and Amnesty International. He was awarded a senior four-year academic honors certificate. He attended Dirigo Boys State and was a member of National Honor Society.

Andrea Pratt, daughter of Ivan and Diane Pratt of Chapman, graduated fourth in the Class of 2006. She plans to attend Northern Maine Community College to study nursing.

She has been a member of the National Honor Society, serving as president this year. She volunteered at the Presque Isle Nursing Home, Haystack Historical Society, and Special Olympics. She has been active on the SHIP yearbook staff during grades 10-12.

Moriah Morris, daughter of Alan Morris and Jeff and Lori Hudson, graduated fifth in the Class of 2006. She will attend the University of Maine in Orono to study education.

She has been a member of student council, Amnesty International, soccer team, tennis team, and the varsity basketball team. She received a Big East Conference Scholar Athlete award and was named to the County All-Star Basketball team. She volunteered as a basketball coach and a tutor at Zippel Elementary and Presque Isle Middle Schools.
