ORONO – A Milford man was arrested early Thursday morning after admitting he had assaulted his girlfriend, who is also his business partner, while the couple’s cleaning company was working at a local supermarket, police said.

An employee of Milford’s Rainbow Cleaning Inc. called Orono police at 10 p.m. Wednesday to report that his female manager was being assaulted at the Bell’s IGA supermarket.

The employee told police that he heard his female boss scream and ran in her direction. The employee said he observed his male boss, whom he identified as Thomas Crocker, run from the building.

Crocker, 43, was not at the supermarket by the time Orono police Officers Christopher Watson and Christopher Foxworthy arrived.

The woman, who is also from Milford, told officers she had been arguing with Crocker about a business issue and he had slapped both sides of her head with his hands, according to police reports.

The officers noted bruises on her right arm, and the woman said they were a result of Crocker grabbing her a few days before the incident.

Crocker arrived at the Orono police station around 12:30 a.m. Thursday and said he “wanted to clear things up.” When questioned by Watson and Foxworthy, Crocker admitted to grabbing the woman’s face.

Crocker was arrested on a charge of assault and transported to the Penobscot County Jail. He has since posted bail, according to police records.

A Bangor couple were arrested Wednesday night after police responded to a domestic abuse call on Deer Isle Drive.

Carrie Cohen, 29, had been arguing with her boyfriend, Stephone Ross, 36, and told police that he slapped her across the face and pushed her onto the couch, according to police reports.

According to Cohen, Ross then drove away in her vehicle. He was not present when Bangor police Officer Eric Tourtelotte arrived at the Deer Isle Drive residence.

Cohen appeared calm and had no apparent injuries, according to Tourtelotte’s report. The couple’s 6-month-old child was asleep during the fight, according to Cohen.

Officer Jason Stuart caught up with Ross in a parking lot near Ohio and Fifteenth streets later that evening and held him there until Tourtelotte arrived.

Ross told Tourtelotte that he had recently moved to the area from Florida so he could be a good dad, and admitted to pushing Cohen. He was arrested on a charge of assault and transported to the Penobscot County Jail.

After running a check on Cohen’s license to ensure she could drive her car home, Tourtelotte discovered that Cohen did not have a license.

He also learned that she was wanted in Florida on a warrant, and that Florida officials were seeking to extradite her.

Tourtelotte returned to Cohen’s home and arrested her. She was transported to the county jail.
