PORTLAND – Four members of the Portland Sea Dogs have been selected to participate in the 2006 Eastern League All-Star Game to be held Wednesday, July 12, at the Blair County Ballpark in Altoona, Pa.

Outfielder Tyler Minges, pitcher Chris Smith, third baseman Chad Spann and first baseman-designated hitter Jeremy West have been picked to represent the Sea Dogs on the 24-player East Division All-Star squad that will square off against the West.

Minges, who started the year at Triple-A Pawtucket before joining Portland on May 8, is batting .303 with three home runs and 28 RBIs. Smith, a right-hander, is 9-3 in 15 starts and leads the EL in wins while ranking fifth with a 2.27 earned run average. Spann is batting .269 with six home runs and 34 RBIs, while West ranks fourth among EL hitters with a .310 batting average to go with 19 doubles, seven home runs and 36 RBIs.
