NEW GLOUCESTER – Per Nilsson and Mikael Lofgren have been named the new national team coaches for U.S. Biathlon.

Nilsson and Lofgren, both 36-year-old natives of Sweden, will serve as head coach and assistant, respectively.

Nilsson was the head biathlon coach for the Maine Winter Sports Center team during the 2001-02 season and has coached and worked in athlete development in Sweden. Lofgren won bronze medals in the individual and relay events in the 1992 Olympics and was the overall World Cup winner in 1992-93.
