BANGOR – Nominations are being accepted for the sixth annual 2 THOSE WHO CARE Awards, a celebration of outstanding volunteers in the community. Honorees will be selected in late July. Awards are to be presented at a gala ceremony on Wednesday, Oct. 4, at the G. Peirce Webber Campus Center, Husson College, in Bangor. The ceremony will be televised later in October as a primetime special on WLBZ 2.

In addition to the 2 THOSE WHO CARE Award winners, one individual will be presented with the John W. Coombs Award, an award of the United Way of Eastern Maine since 1984. An outstanding nonprofit organization will be honored with the Agency of Distinction Award. In addition to substantial television recognition, each winner will receive a cash donation to the charity of his or her choice. The Agency of Distinction will receive a cash donation.
