Belfast woman alerts police to break-in

BELFAST – A woman who reported hearing the sound of breaking glass at 9:16 p.m. Thursday near the Oakes & Parkhurst glass business on High Street alerted police to a break-in.

Belfast police investigating Officer Mike Rolerson discovered that a second-floor back window had been entered, officer Bryan Cunningham reported Friday.

Rolerson theorized the burglar or burglars climbed a tree near the building, then used an electrical conduit to reach the window.

A safe in the business appears to have been examined, but not opened. A small amount of cash was reported missing.

Cunningham said police found blood and fingerprints at the scene.

The woman who alerted police to the breaking glass also observed a car parked near the store.
