Motorcyclist hurt in Bangor collision

A Corinth man remained in fair condition Friday night at a Bangor hospital, hours after the motorcycle he was riding struck a car that pulled out in front of him on Union Street in Bangor.

Jeremiah W. Grondin, 24, suffered a serious injury to his right leg and other injuries when he was thrown from the motorcycle, according to police. Grondin was heading east on Union Street around 4:40 p.m. when a car pulled out in front of him from a parking lot between Second and Sanford streets. The driver, Jeanne Yestramski, 16, of Veazie, told Bangor police Officer James Dearing that a van with its door open on the side of the road obscured her view. Yestramski was not injured, Dearing said.

Dearing summoned Grondin, who was taken to Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor, on a charge of operating a motor vehicle after license suspension and for possession of Schedule W drugs. Dearing said Grondin possessed Vicodin pills without a prescription.

Bangor police charged a Westwood Road man with criminal threatening with a dangerous weapon early Friday morning after it was reported he aimed a gun at his girlfriend.

The woman said that Michael W. Connors, 47, pointed a gun at her several times during an argument. One time when she was retrieving her belt, Connors told her “Your belt or your life,” Bangor police Officer James Hassard reported. The woman told Hassard that Connors also had told her to keep her hands up and that she was very scared he was going to shoot her.

Connors claimed that he had gotten his “home defense weapon” after his girlfriend told him she might as well get his gun and shoot him. He said he got a gun but only pointed it at her when she came toward him.

Police officers found four firearms in the home, two shotguns and two handguns. Hassard arrested Connors and took him to Penobscot County Jail.
