Jeremie Whorff tips his father for win at Oxford

OXFORD – Bath’s Jeremie Whorff held off his father Bill Whorff Jr. of Topsham to win his first Pro Stock race of the season Saturday night at Oxford Plains Speedway.

Points leader Jeff Taylor of Norridgewock finished third, Chris Kennison of Oxford was fourth, and Newcastle’s Chuck Colby was fifth.

Ben Erskine of Solon cruised to his first win since last season in the Super Street feature on Saturday night. Rick Burgess Jr. of Waterville finished second and Ajay Picard of Palmyra was third.

Wiscasset’s Kevin Sherman grabbed his third win of the season in the Stock Mini 50-lap feature by holding off Brent Roy of Vassalboro. Brian Fortin of South China finished third, Bryan Lancaster of Skowhegan was fourth, and Winterport’s Ernie Wallace was fifth.

Mike King of Bridgton outran Ellsworth’s Mark Dunbar to win the Diesel Day Race on Sunday. Troy Kimball of Stillwater was a semifinalist.

NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series

At Sparta, Ky, Scarborough’s Ryan Moore started 30th and finished 32nd in the Built Ford Tough 225 at Kentucky Speedway on Saturday night.

Moore finished just 87 laps before a blown engine ended his night in the No. 40 Key Motorsports Chevrolet. Ron Hornaday won the race.

NASCAR Busch East Series

At North East, Pa., Mike Olsen of North Haverhill, N.H. started on the pole and won the Local Dodge Dealers 150 at Lake Erie Speedway. It’s his first Busch East Series win of the season.

Sean Caisse of Pelham, N.H., driving Cherryfield’s Andy Santerre’s No. 44 Casella Waste Systems Chevrolet, finished second. Brian Horr of Williston, Vt. was third, Randolph, N.J.’s Joey McCarthy was fourth, and Mike Johnson of Salisbury, Mass. rounded out the top five.
