Members of Hillcrest Golf Club in Millinocket still are working hard to pay off the mortgage for the land on which the club sits.

The club’s Vice President Kevin Gregory reports that since pledges have fallen “short of the total due,” the club is hosting another fundraiser.

The public is invited to a turkey pot pie dinner-auction. The dinner will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Friday, July 14, with the auction directly afterward at the club on the corner of Westwood Avenue and Grove Street in Millinocket.

Sen. Paul Davis, the volunteer auctioneer, will try to get the best bids for raft trips, gift certificates, an air conditioner, golf outings, crafts, lodging, oil changes, baked goods, golf equipment, an airplane ride, dental cleaning and much more, Gregory wrote of the event that also includes door prizes and a 50-50 drawing.

Anyone interested in donating items for the auction can call Hillcrest Golf Club at 723-8410, or Gregory at 723-5178.

Your support of this fundraiser would be greatly appreciated, Gregory wrote, since members are doing all they can “to help defer the cost [of the mortgage] and make sure the club and course doesn’t fold.”
