Downeast Consolidated

HERMON – Longtime Maine business owners Larry and Robin Frost have announced the repurchase of Frost Septic Services LLC from a New York-based company that bought the business from the Frosts in late 2004. The Frosts will combine the septic services business with a concrete company to form a new entity.

Frost Septic was founded by Larry’s father in 1962 as Tom Frost & Sons, and acquired by Larry and Robin Frost in 1991 as Frost Septic Inc.

The couple also has purchased Down East Concrete Products Inc. of Hermon from owners Tim and Joan Schoppe.

The Frosts have brought the two entities together as Downeast Consolidated Companies Inc., combining septic services with the sales, delivery and manufacturing of pre-cast concrete products, including septic tanks, leaching chambers, manhole structures, steps and barriers. The concrete division will soon branch out to offer several new product lines for residential and commercial markets.

“We sold the family of companies within Innovative Earth Solutions because we wanted a change, a slower life style,” said Robin Frost, who will serve as the president for Downeast Consolidated Companies Inc. “But we knew we would do something else. Larry and our son, Ed, like construction, so when we heard Down East Concrete might go up for auction, we had a family meeting and decided to make an offer.”

Larry Frost, who will serve as CEO of the company, said the family not only saw the natural connection between concrete services and their septic business, but wanted to make sure their loyal Frost Septic customers received the service they were accustomed to.

“Frost Septic had been in the family for nearly 45 years,” said Larry, “and we were concerned about the service aspect from the day we sold it. But now that we’re back, Frost Septic customers can expect the excellent service they’ve been used to all these years – by the same family they’ve come to count on.”

Son Ed Frost will serve as operations manager for Downeast Consolidated Companies Inc. Daughter Barbara Frost-Gawrych will be office manager and her husband, Peter, will be transportation manager.
