Orono garden tour to be held July 22

ORONO – Some of Orono’s finest, most creative gardens will be featured in the 2006 Orono Bicentennial Garden Tour 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday, July 22.

“This garden tour has inspiration for everyone,” said committee member Lisa Colburn.

Among the remarkable gardens that will be highlighted are shade gardens, heirloom gardens, gardens with whimsy and some very serious collections of specialized plants.

Several gardens will feature refreshments and live music. A stop at the Treadwell Building, 8 Bennoch Road, will provide garden tour participants with discount coupons, specials, information and opportunities provided by garden tour sponsors.

Sponsors are Ampersand, Bear Brew Pub, Burby and Bates, Campbell-Lang Town & Country Realtors, Orono Pharmacy, Pat’s Pizza, Pretty Woman and Woodman’s restaurant. Advance tickets are $10 and may be purchased at The Store Ampersand and Orono Pharmacy, both on Mill Street in Orono, or call 866-3861.

The day of the tour, tickets are $12 and may be purchased at the Treadwell Building, 8 Bennoch Road.
