Red Sox move Ellsbury to Sea Dogs

The Boston Red Sox have promoted outfielder Jacoby Ellsbury from Single-A Wilmington to Double-A Portland.

In 60 games with the Blue Rocks this season, the 22-year-old Ellsbury ranks fifth in the Carolina League with a .298 batting average to go along with four home runs and 32 RBIs. His five triples and 25 stolen bases both rank second in the league. His four steals in one game July 3 tied a Wilmington franchise record. Ellsbury was the Red Sox first pick, 23rd overall, in the June 2005 draft.

Tyler Minges, Chad Spann, Chris Smith and Jeremy West represented the Sea Dogs in the Eastern League All-Star Game at Blair County Ballpark in Altoona, Penn.
