Katahdin edges Hampden in 9th on Robinson’s shot

BANGOR – Tyler Robinson belted a two-run, inside-the-park home run in the top of the ninth to lift Katahdin to a 4-2 win over Hampden in the District 3 Junior League all-star tournament Wednesday night.

Andy Kay pitched a complete game with 18 strikeouts and tallied two singles. Billy Duffy hit a double and a single and Evan McCarthy added two singles and two RBI.

Matt Lindemann had two singles for Hampden.

Brewer 5, Bangor West 4

At Thirteenth Street Complex, Brewer scored the go-ahead run on a pass ball with two outs in the top of the sixth and held on for the win.

Yuhi Sasaki hit an RBI single and Bradon Sinclair and Ben Pushard both added a single for Brewer.

Jessie Wood had a double, single and drove in two runs for Bangor West. Carl Farnham chipped in with a single and an RBI and Matt Fuller singled.

Bangor East 7, Old Town 2

At Bangor East, Adam King launched a two-run home run in the fifth inning and had a single and two runs scored to lead Bangor East past Old Town.

Seth Freudenberger had two doubles and an RBI and Patrick Stewart added two singles. John Szewczyk hit a double and tallied a run scored.

Drew Richardson and David Wilcox had a single and an RBI apiece for Old Town.

At Holbrook, Hampden took advantage of six Bangor East errors to earn a berth in the District 3 10-11 Little League Championship.

Sam Ward belted a two-run home run in the second inning to go along with an RBI single, and Cooper Antone singled twice with an RBI. Will Manning chipped in with two singles and Brian Fickett had a single and a double for Hampden.

Ben Mann tallied two doubles and an RBI, and Brian Rouleau had an RBI single. Greg Duff, Chris Anderson and Dakota Williams singled for Bangor East.

At Ellsworth, Steven Mahon pitched a four-hitter and also led unbeaten Ellsworth’s offense with a double, two singles and four RBIs.

Brandon Braley had two doubles and three RBIs for Ellsworth. Jacob Poors had two singles and an RBI.

Fred Maclean hit a double to pace Machias.

At Bucksport, Mitch Domagala’s two-run single in the bottom of the sixth highlighted a five-run rally kept Ellsworth II alive in the losers’ bracket.

All five runs were unearned for Ellsworth, which cashed in on two Bucksport errors.

Domagala had two singles and Ethan Van Dorn had a single and three RBIs.

For Bucksport, Josh Gray had a triple and a single, Cody Witham had a double and a single, and Tyler McGuire singled twice.

At Old Town, Gehrig White singled, doubled and drove in a run, and Dylan Birmingham added an RBI double as Millinocket cruised past Brewer.

Andrew Collins chipped in with a single and an RBI and Sam Ness singled for Millinocket.

Seth Brown hit two singles, a double and had an RBI, and Kyle Mavey added an RBI double for Brewer. Jordan Morrow and Thomas Bulley had a single and an RBI apiece.

At Mansfield Stadium, Bangor, Andy Bush’s RBI double tied the game and the go-ahead run scored on a two-out throwing error as Brewer topped Hampden.

Bush added a single, Billy Bissell had two singles and an RBI and Matt Helfen doubled for Brewer.

Ryan Lindemann hit two singles and notched two RBI and Caleb Kirk chipped in with a double, single and two RBI. Jerrod Kelsey had two singles and drove in a run for Hampden.

Lincoln 28, Orrington 2

At Hermon, Taylor Blood tossed a five-hitter and helped her cause with a two-run home run and two RBI singles to lead Lincoln to the win.

Carly McDonald added a two-run triple and an RBI double, while Alyssa Thurlow drove in three runs on a double and a single and Brianah Weston had two RBI singles.

Crystal Demchak led Orrington with an RBI single.
