HAMPDEN – Sam Merrill scattered nine hits and didn’t allow a run after the first inning to pitch the Trenton Acadians to a 7-2 victory over Hampden in an American Legion Zone 1 baseball game at Bordick Park on Friday.
Blake Wessel paced the Trenton offense with two doubles, two runs scored and an RBI. Cory Smith singled twice with three RBIs, while Collin Henry doubled and singled and A.J. Pennartz singled twice with an RBI.
Shawn Smith led Hampden with a double and three singles, while Tim Kenerson doubled and singled with an RBI for the River Dogs.

At Searsport, winning pitcher Joe Robicheau hit a three-run home run in the top of the second inning as Brewer scored seven runs in the inning en route to its 10th straight win.

Noah Burke, Brendan Gardner and Mike Cummons each singled twice for Waldo, while Ryan Shute hit a two-run single.

At Calais, the Penquis Navigators continued their late-season surge for an American Legion Zone 1 baseball playoff berth by sweeping the host Suns.
In the first game, Dan Beatham hit a grand slam during a six-run second inning for Penquis, while Sam Bowers, Scott Kelly, Joey Kane and Nick Lancisi also homered to power Penquis to victory.
Kelly also doubled and Bowers added a single.
Josh Francis paced Calais with a pair of home runs, a two-run shot to give the Suns a 2-1 first-inning lead, and a solo blast in the seventh inning.
Scott Geel added three singles and an RBI, while Lloyd Burnside doubled.
In the second game, Penquis scored 15 runs in the first inning to put the game away. Kelly had two doubles and two RBIs for the Navigators, while Nick Emery and Danny Kane each singled twice with two RBIs and Bowers hit a home run.
Francis paced Calais with a home run, double, single and two RBIs, while Aaron Sullivan, Tom Pottle, Matt O’Brien and John Deacon eachc singled twice.

At Lincoln, Jarrett Lukas hit a two-run home run and two singles and drove home four runs as the Twins earned the road victory.
Jason Murchison gave Lincoln a 3-2 lead with a three-run home run in the third inning, but Dustin Thomas hit a two-run triple and Lukas had a two-run single as Orono scored six runs in the top of the fourth.
Lukas and winning pitcher Travis Dunton each homered in the fifth for the Twins.
Dunton, who combined with Thomas to pitch a two-hitter, also singled twice for Orono.
