Growing fast: North American sales of organic beer have more than doubled from $9 million in 2003 to $19 million in 2005, according to the Organic Trade Association.
New entries: Anheuser-Busch, the nation’s largest brewer, this spring launched two new organic beers in selected U.S. test markets.
What it means: Under USDA regulations, at least 95 percent of a beer’s ingredients must be grown organically, without the use of chemicals and pesticides, for it to be certified as organic.
