Miller helps UBS keep Searsport at bay with Sunday sweep

BANGOR – Jeff Miller had a single, a double, and three runs scored to help pace a 16-hit attack by UBS as it swept Searsport in a Bay League baseball doubleheader 3-2 and 5-2 Sunday at Winkin Complex.

In the first game, Travis Tripp allowed three hits in five innings to lead UBS.

Jim Gray had a triple and two singles, and Chad Lavway added two singles for UBS.

Travis Griffin had a triple for Searsport, while Kenton Spaulding and Nick Arthers each hit RBI singles.

In the second game, Keith Nason spread out nine hits and went the distance to hold Searsport to two runs.

Jeff Miller had a double and two runs, Craig Harvey had an RBI double and Keith Nason added a two-run single for UBS.

Shane Gerrish and Shane Eddy each singled twice and Howard Whitcomb added a double and stole two bases.

Aerus Electrolux, Union St. split

At Hermon, Cory Archer and Nate Hall of Aerus Electrolux each hit an RBI single as part of a five-run second inning to hold off Union Street Cleaners 5-4 in the first game Sunday. Union Street defeated Aerus Electrolux 9-4 in the second game.

In the first game, Andy Treadwell hit two singles and drove in a run while Brian McGinley added an RBI single for Aerus.

P.J. Dowe singled twice while Bill Kane doubled with two RBIs. Brian Hackett added an RBI double for Union Street.

In the second game, Josh Young hit two singles and drove in three runs while Brad Wheaton singled twice with an RBI for the winners.

Archer hit an RBI double and a single while Chris Whitney and Ira Perkins each had an RBI single for Aerus.

Movingme.com sweeps Dovetail

At Dover-Foxcroft Sunday, Marcus Nadeau had four singles and a double to help lead visiting Movingme.com to a doubleheader sweep of Dovetail Furniture, 10-5 in the first game and 1-0 (nine innings) in the second.

In the first game, Brandon Caron of Dovetail drove in two runs as Dovetail outhit Movingme.com, but lost 10-5.

In the second game, Chris Blanchette of Movingme.com and Chad Gomm of Dovetail each pitched five-hitters, but Blanchette notched the win with 11 strikeouts as Marcus Nadeau scored the only run of the game in the ninth via a fielding error.

Gomm had 15 strikeouts for Dovetail.
