Bangor West tops Brewer, forces title contest today

BREWER – Jessie Wood and winning pitcher Cody Savage each hit a solo home run in the second inning to lead the Bangor West 11-12 All-Stars to a 5-1 District 3 baseball win over Brewer on Tuesday.

The win forced a second game in the double-elimination tourney today to decide the champ as the two teams will battle at Bangor East’s Taylor Field, a neutral site, at 5:30 p.m.

Josiah Hartley hit a solo home run in the fourth inning while Bobby Winchell had a two-run single for the winners.

Shawn Williams singled twice for Brewer and Tyler White added a single and scored Brewer’s run in the sixth.

Bangor East 11, Millinocket 7

At Old Town, Brendan Moore hit a two-run single with the bases loaded as part of an eight- run third inning to lead Bangor East by Millinocket.

Moore had two more singles while winning pitcher Justin Courtney and Adam Allen each added a single for Bangor East.

Seth Brown singled twice and drove in four runs while Jordan Morrow had three singles for Millinocket.

Glenburn 8, Brewer 7

At Bangor, Old Town defeated Bangor 8-6 to move into the championship round while Glenburn eliminated Brewer 8-7 in tourney action.

Glenburn and Bangor square off today at 7:30 p.m. with the winner advancing to take on undefeated Old Town in the championship round of the double-elimination tourney Thursday at 7:30 p.m. The Glenburn-Bangor winner has to beat Old Town twice to claim the crown.

In the first game, Ben Stout’s sacrifice fly in the bottom of the seventh inning lifted Glenburn to the win.

Andrew Casey tied the score by scoring on an error for the winners. Brent Dority added two singles and Joey Spencer a double.

Mike Clune hit an RBI triple and Matt Burnham an RBI single and RBI double for Brewer. Matt Helfen added a double, single and an RBI.

In the second game, Old Town scored in every inning to notch the win as Cory Wasson allowed no earned runs over six innings with three hits, one walk and five strikeouts.

Wasson aided his own cause with an RBI triple and Evan Paradis chipped in with an RBI double. Matt Jones doubled, single and drove in a run and Tyler Cates singled twice and had an RBI.

Jordan Clarke doubled, singled and drove in two runs for Bangor.
