LEWISTON – The Johnson’s Foundations men’s softball team from Dover-Foxcroft won the men’s state Class D softball championship Sunday to earn a trip to the nationals in Montgomery, Ala.

Johnson’s Foundations bested a 40-team field by winning all six of its games, and counting its performance in winning its first-ever regional championship at Bangor two weeks earlier, the team has now won 15 consecutive games.

The team has dedicated its season to former teammate Alex Atkinson, who died earlier this year after a brief battle with cancer.

Members of the championship team are Ethan Annis, Brett Boone, Kevin Chasse, Kevin Church, Ryan Dankert, Paul Forrest, Ty Kennedy, Steve Nicholas, Bill Olmstead, Dwight Patterson, Ryan Taylor and Josh Withee. The team sponsor is Richard Johnson.
