Dog days of summer

Give Fido a treat – and treat yourself to a blueberry tasting – from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday at Peaked Mountain Farm in Dedham. The farm will add a canine twist to Open Farm Day with a promotion of its Bite O Blue wild blueberry dog treats, which have made a splash everywhere from here to New York. Peaked Mountain Farm is located at 16 Ellery’s Lane in Dedham. For information or a full schedule of events, visit www.peakedmountainfarm.com.

A cultural celebration

The Bear Brew Pub in Orono will hold a cultural food and music celebration starting at 5 p.m. Saturday. Among the event’s culinary highlights will be an all-you-can-eat buffet featuring African and Caribbean cuisine with vegetarian options, as well as a pizza party for the kids. On the beverage front, the pub will also celebrate the release of its Belgian-style Blueberry Weiss beer. Proceeds benefit the Orono Library Fund. For information, call 866-BREW.

Summer sips

Want the perfect red for ribs? How about a white delight for fish tacos? Then head to Thursday’s wine tasting at Bangor Wine and Cheese. From 6 to 9 p.m. Randy and Justin from Wicked Wines will lead summer sippers on a world tour, visiting Argentina, Spain, France, Italy, California – even Connecticut. For information, call 942-3338
