New date for picnic

BANGOR – The picnic for the Physical Disabilities Support Group will be held in August, one week later than the usually scheduled meeting time.

The group will not hold a regular meeting on Aug. 3, but will hold a picnic at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 10, at Paul Bunyan Park on Main Street. Rain date is Aug. 17.

The group usually meets the first Thursday of the month, but changed the August date because of a conflict with the Bangor State Fair, which uses all of Bass Park for 10 days.

Volunteers are needed to help with cooking, serving and cleanup at the picnic. Those attending may notify Gaelen Saucier about what they plan to bring at swinc@yahoo.com.

Family members are welcome to attend as well.

Maine Hospital Association

Douglas Jones, president and CEO of Maine Coast Memorial Hospital in Ellsworth, was installed as chairman of the Maine Hospital Association board of directors at the association’s recent summer forum in Rockport.

Jones succeeds Roy Hitchings, CEO of Penobscot Bay Medical Center in Rockport, who becomes the board’s immediate past chairman. The current immediate past chairman, Ralph Gabarro, CEO of May Regional Hospital in Dover-Foxcroft, will leave the board as will Dennis King of Spring Harbor Hospital in Westbrook. King is the former CEO of the Acadia Hospital in Bangor.

Joining the board are Marie Vienneau, CEO of Millinocket Regional Hospital; Dorothy Hill, CEO and chief nursing officer at the Acadia Hospital in Bangor; John Carlson, president of Bridgton Hospital and Dr. Frank Lavoie of Southern Maine Medical Center in Biddeford.
