I disagree with the writer of “Repair bad reputation” (BDN letter, July 11). On the contrary, President Bush and crew are doing an awesome job.

Remember back to your school days. Do you recall how the bully always had people around to keep him pumped up? Consider a country, let’s say Iraq, that wants to make things better for their people, but these bullies from surrounding countries decide to go in and hassle them.

Consider a large, prosperous country, the United States, which hates bullying so decides to help the smaller country, because we know what works and want to help. We are there so now the bullies are picking on our guys and gals, too, but we stay because we want to help. The small country wants our help despite what we hear in the news.

Now, in the large country, there are the anti-war contributors. They bad-mouth the president and some even go to stand in the line of fire to protest the war. So in effect, the anti-war contributors are puffing up the bullies, giving them fuel, keeping them going. And not only are the bullies continuing their meanness in Iraq, but they are infiltrating the United States, Canada and Great Britain.

We have to support our government. We have to stop these bullies. I served 15 1/2 years in the U.S. Air Force and I am proud of the USA. This country still stands for freedom.
