Church burglary suspect arrested

HOULTON – Houlton police on Thursday arrested a local man in connection with a July 12 burglary and theft at the Houlton Wesleyan Church.

Houlton Police Chief Daniel Soucy reported the arrest of Allen C. Dupuis, 23, Thursday morning. He was being held in the Aroostook County Jail in lieu of bail. He is scheduled for court appearance on burglary and theft charges on Sept. 21.

Soucy credited the arrest to Officer Mark Ganzel and members of the public who located merchandise stolen from the church.

Stolen were a laptop computer with accessories, two video cameras and some petty cash.

Police recovered the laptop and one video camera. Soucy said they are looking for the second video camera.

Officer Troy Fitzpatrick arrested Dupuis, without incident, Friday morning.

“It appears that he [Dupuis] acted alone,” Soucy said. “He is known to local police.”
