MOUNT DESERT – The MDI Water Quality Coalition has published a report identifying threats to the integrity of habitat in Stanley Brook and uncovering pollution sources affecting water quality at Seal Harbor.
The Stanley Brook Watershed Survey was conducted between June and October 2005 involving identification of properties that might contribute to runoff of the brook or beach.
A recommendation proposed by the coalition is to repair private sewer lines that possibly are broken and contribute to bacterial pollution of swim areas in Seal Harbor.
For a copy of the report, send a request to the MDI Water Quality Coalition at P.O. Box 911 Mount Desert, Maine 04660, or visit www.mdiwqc.org.
