Joe, 11, likes to play games and go fishing

Joe, who turned 11 in March, is eager to please the adults in his life. He enjoys woodworking and playing video games.

Joe prefers playing indoors in the winter since he is not fond of the cold. When the weather is warmer, he enjoys fishing and playing outside.

He played baseball last year and is undecided about playing again this year.

Joe has struggled at times with peer relationships, although he is working on this area. He receives special education services to address reading delays. He demonstrates a strength and fondness in the subject of math.

Joe is a “collector” and has difficulty parting with any of his things. His adoptive family will need to be sensitive to his feelings about his belongings.

He is a delightful, engaging boy with a lot to offer and will be a great addition to the right family. He has expressed a strong desire to remain in Maine.

Joe is one of the 157 children in the state Department of Health and Human Services’ care who is seeking an adoptive family. Based in Gardiner, A Family for ME is a nonprofit program that works in collaboration with DHHS to find foster and adoptive families for Maine children in care.
