Marvin, Simpson lead Orrington past Auburn

ELLSWORTH – Abby Marvin knocked in Nicole Murphy with a single in the second inning to give pitcher Kelcey Simpson the only run she’d need as Orrington upended Auburn 1-0 in the 11-12 State Little League Softball tourney Friday.

The game was called after four innings due to lightning.

Simpson recorded 11 of the 12 outs on strikeouts en route to a two-hit shutout for Orrington and Autumn St. John tripled.

Kristen Whittaker and Amanda Turcotte singled for Auburn.

Falmouth 13, Rockland 6

At Ellsworth, Sarah Collmus hit five singles to drive in four runs and struck out 13 Rockland batters to lead Falmouth to victory.

Michaela Franco had two singles with two RBIs for Falmouth and Lauren O’Donnell singled twice and scored three runs.

Danica Gustin singled twice for Rockland.

Saco 8, Calais 2

At Ellsworth, Hannah Ebling had two triples, a double, and a single to knock in two runs and score four times to lead Saco past Calais.

Chris Rammes singled twice to drive in a run for Saco and Kailey Fogg doubled.

Alison Hill paced Calais with three singles. Jen Ross and Jackie Mingo singled twice.
