A Bangor man was arrested after starting a fight with a fellow patron at the Bass Park off-track betting facilities Saturday night.

According to reports, Steven Leclair, 26, of Bangor began to attack another man when Sgt. Donald Gagner witnessed the altercation. The bartender at the facility wanted Leclair off the premises, so Gagner asked Leclair to leave.

Leclair allegedly began yelling that the other individual started the fight, and stated that he would leave as soon as he found out whether or not he’d won a bet he’d made. Gagner again asked him to leave, and he refused. The officer then took Leclair by the shoulders and began to escort him out. Leclair broke free and started to walk toward the racetrack, at which point Gagner called for backup and arrested him.

Gagner and Officer Daniel Herrick had to forcibly put Leclair in the police cruiser. He was charged with criminal trespassing and was taken to Penobscot County Jail.
