Broadband technology has transformed the way Williams Broadcasting Inc., located in North Norway, does business here in Maine and throughout the Northeast, resulting in an increase in revenue and an expanding marketplace for its programs.

The company started out in the early 1990s, producing ski reports using a process company president John Williams described as long and laborious.

“Williams Broadcasting produced and sent short-format programs to radio stations primarily by picking up the phone and calling stations all over New England. The programs were recorded live while a disc jockey taped them through the phone line,” said Williams.

Broadband enables the company to produce and transmit high-quality multiple programs in a fraction of the time it once took.

“We now provide five different programs, including ‘Skiing & Boarding Reports,’ ‘Snowmobile Reports,’ ‘Motor Sports Racing,’ ‘Entertainment & Events’ and ‘Outdoor Adventure’ to more than 50 radio and television stations throughout New England, New York and Canada both on the air and on the Web,” said Williams. “We simply could never have done this without Oxford Networks’ broadband technology.”
