Bangor’s Witts wins points title at Speedway 95

HERMON – Bangor’s Jason Witts battled through several caution flags to earn a win in the Limited Sportsman race as well as the points championship for the series Saturday at Speedway 95.

Rowland Robinson Sr. of Steuben was the runner-up for the race, followed by Glen Curtis Jr. of Hudson and Puncin St. Clair of Liberty. Glenburn’s Joe Allard picked up a fifth-place finish.

Oxford Plains Speedway

At Oxford Saturday, Shawn Martin of Turner won the Maine-ly Action Sports 100 for the second time in four years to give him an automatic berth into Sunday’s TD Banknorth 250.

Martin took the lead on the ninth and final lead change, getting past Norway’s Dennis Spencer Jr. on a 95th-lap restart.

Joey Laquerre of East Montpelier, Vt., finished third. Brent Dragon of Milton, Vt., was fourth and Ryan Vanasse of Warwick, R.I., took fifth.

Beech Ridge

At Scarborough Saturday, Bobby Babb of Windham won the NASCAR Pro Series feature, taking the lead from Steve Berry of Gorham on lap 21 of the 40-lap race for his third victory of the season.

Bub Bilodeau of Standish finished second, followed by Berry. Dan McKeage of Gorham took fourth and Bob Gahan of Barrington, N.H., was fifth.

At Wiscasset Friday, Jim Bradstreet of Wiscasset won a makeup Big Enduro race before a pair of thunderstorms washed out the rest of the program.

Newcastle’s Shawn Dinsmore finished second.

Winterport Dragway

At Winterport Sunday, Tim Huff of Dover-Foxcroft took the Super Pro Eliminator race, besting Mike DiCenzo of Calais.

Don Barnes, also of Calais, and Levant’s Mac Beckwith were the semifinalists.
