BANGOR – Scott Farnham hit an RBI single in the bottom of the second to start a three-run burst as Bangor held off South Portland 4-3 to win the state Junior League Baseball championship at Mansfield Stadium Monday.
Bangor advances to the Eastern Regional starting Saturday in Freehold Township, N.J.
Brian Higgins hit an RBI single for Bangor, and Kyle Savage, Bud Angst, Jacques Larochelle, and Nate Lewis singled. Savage pitched the complete game to earn the win.
Mike Foley singled twice for South Portland.

At Mansfield Stadium in Bangor, Matt Reade rapped a two-run double in the bottom of the fourth to lead Kennebunk Suburban to the win.
Ryan Robb singled twice, doubled, and plated a run, and Nate McCray singled twice and drove in a run for the winners.
Mike Muise had two singles and an RBI and Kyle Bussiere a double for Auburn.

At Mansfield Stadium in Bangor, Collin Ciomei tripled and singled to drive in two runs while Casey Hull hit an RBI double to lead Coastal of Blue Hill to the state title.

Nick Saunders and Ross Bowden each had two singles and an RBI for the winners.
Matt Reade, Ryan Robb, and Brandon Gallagher all singled for Kennebunk Suburban.

At Easton, Md., Nichole Smith and Larissa Luu combined on a one-hitter as Pennsylvania shut out Maine 5-0 in the Eastern Regional.
Maine (0-2) will play New Jersey tonight.
Hailey Smith and Lacey Littlefield allowed six hits combined and struck out eight. But they walked five and Maine committed three errors.
Eva Shannon singled for Maine’s lone hit.
