AUGUSTA – A man was airlifted to a Boston hospital after an oxygen tank he was using to make wind chimes exploded, police said. Basil Cake, 58, of Augusta, was flown to Massachusetts General Hospital by a Maine LifeFlight helicopter after the explosion Sunday afternoon.

AUGUSTA – A man was airlifted to a Boston hospital after an oxygen tank he was using to make wind chimes exploded, police said.

Basil Cake, 58, of Augusta, was flown to Massachusetts General Hospital by a Maine LifeFlight helicopter after the explosion Sunday afternoon.

Cake suffered severe injuries to his lower leg and abdomen, along with cuts and bruises, Augusta police Sgt. Mark Desjardin said.
