ALBANY, N.Y. – Emily Cox pitched a four-inning no-hitter, striking out 11 and walking none as Orrington beat New Hampshire 14-0 in the Little League All-Star East Regional for ages 11-12 softball Tuesday.

Orrington improved to 2-1 in pool play.

Cox helped herself out with a double, single and three RBIs.

Kelcey Simpson and Nicole Murphy each chipped in with two singles for the winners.

Orrington plays its final game of pool play today against Vermont at 4 p.m. An Orrington victory and a loss by Connecticut could put Orrington in the semifinal round.

There are two six-team brackets in the tourney and the top two teams from each bracket advance to the semifinals on Friday. The semifinal winners meet Saturday for the regional championship.

Senior League softball

New Jersey 5, Hampden 1

At Easton, Md., Lindsey Sarjovik and Ashley Dicentes combined on one-hitter to lead the New Jersey all-stars past Hampden.

Hampden pitchers Lacey Littlefield and Hailey Smith combined to give up 11 hits while totaling eight strikeouts and not walking a batter.

Eva Shannon doubled for Hampden.

Maine, 0-3, plays Rhode Island today.
