ROCKLAND – The Knox County Committee of the Maine Community Foundation recently awarded $15,000 in grants to eight Knox County nonprofits.
Among the projects was the new Rockland Community Gardens, which will provide residents access to land in downtown Rockland for use as garden space and as a place for social interaction.
Other grant awards went to:
. Atlantic Challenge Foundation, Rockland, for a collaborative project with the Rockland Public Library to catalogue its maritime library collection
. Coastal Family Hospice, Rockport, to conduct a detailed needs assessment for developing grief support services for area children.
. The Community School, Camden, to support the board during a leadership transition.
. YoKids Yoga for Kids, Glen Cove, to bring yoga to kids in schools in Knox County.
. Youth Arts Program Charitable Trust, Camden, for two performing arts residencies with the Missoula Children’s Theatre and the Snappy Dance Theater.
