BREWER – Police on Thursday searched the Hermon home of a couple accused of robbing a former business partner two days earlier in Brewer.

Brewer police, assisted by Penobscot County Sheriff’s Office deputies, searched the home of John Paul Soucy, 26, and Kristen Hersom, 19, looking for evidence and to recover items that reportedly were taken from a Bangor man’s pickup truck after he was allegedly assaulted.

An estimated $1,200 in tools and other things were taken from the man’s truck, according to police. A police official would not comment specifically about what was recovered as part of the early morning search of the couple’s home on Treadwell Acres.

“We have recovered items of evidentiary value” is all that Brewer police Capt. Jason Moffitt would say.

The search warrant drafted by Brewer Officer Nelson Feero was executed shortly after midnight Thursday morning, several hours after Soucy and Hersom were arrested during a traffic stop on Wilson Street in Brewer.

Both Soucy and Hersom have been charged with robbery. Moffitt wasn’t releasing the name of the business that Soucy and the other man had been operating.

Soucy’s former business partner told police that on Tuesday, Soucy approached him while he was in a driveway on State Street and punched and kicked him and threw him to the ground. The man had lacerations and bruising on his body, Moffitt said.

During the incident, Soucy told Hersom to get some items from the other man’s pickup truck and put them into the car Soucy and Hersom were using, Moffitt said. Soucy also threatened the man’s life, according to police.

Soucy was released from the Penobscot County Jail in Bangor on bail of $1,000 cash, while Hersom was released from custody following an appearance on Thursday in 3rd District Court in Bangor. No information about her bail was available.
