TOWNSHIP 34 – Three people were injured late Saturday night in a single-vehicle accident in northern Hancock County that resulted in the driver’s arrest.
Kyle Joy, 20, of Birch Harbor and two female passengers whose names were not released Sunday were traveling on Steud Mill Road just before 11 p.m. when their car left the road.
Hancock County sheriff’s deputies responded to the accident, which totaled Joy’s car. It wasn’t clear whether Joy or the two passengers were wearing seat belts.
All three were taken to Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor. One of the females was taken by LifeFlight helicopter. Police on Sunday did not have immediate information on their injuries, but none were considered life-threatening.
Joy, whose injuries were relatively minor, later was charged with operating under the influence and furnishing alcohol to minors.
