Bangor police are investigating a report of a man who on Monday said he was stabbed in the hand by a man demanding money he was owed.

The 23-year-old Bangor man said he was walking behind a building on Ohio Street when he was confronted by a man he only knew by the letter “B” who demanded the $30 he was owed from an earlier drug transaction. When the man couldn’t pay, “B” tried to stab him in the abdomen, but he put up his hand in defense and was cut in the left hand.

The alleged attacker fled the scene. The incident was reported shortly after noon, although there were no witnesses, according to police.

Authorities are looking for two men who allegedly assaulted a man in Pickering Square last week and stole his money.

The 53-year-old man told police that after leaving a bar, he went to a bench in the square and fell asleep, only to be awakened about 2 a.m. Friday by two men who assaulted him. The men then allegedly took money from the man’s wallet and fled, Detective Sgt. Paul Kenison of the Bangor Police Department said Tuesday.

The man couldn’t identify his assailants. He had injuries that were treated at a local hospital, Kenison said.

Fatigued from a long night at work, an Alton man crashed his Kawasaki motorcycle into a utility pole Tuesday morning on Target Industrial Circle in Bangor.

Travis Faulkner-Lee, 22, failed to make the curve in the road at 7:20 a.m., causing the motorcycle to veer to the right and strike the pole. Faulkner-Lee then hit his head against the pole. He was not wearing a helmet at the time of the accident, according to police.

Faulkner-Lee was bleeding from the head when emergency crews arrived at the scene. He was transported to Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor, where he was treated and then released.

Bangor police Officer Dennis Lally blamed driver inattention and fatigue as causes of the accident.
